The 3 types of communication
Sender
essential element of communication; individual who creates a message to convey information or an idea to another person
Message
essential element of communication; information, thoughts, or ideas
Receiver
essential element of communication; individual who receives the message from the sender
Feedback
Method used to determine whether communication was successful
Subjective
Cannot be seen or felt; reported by patient. Example: the patient’s symptoms.
Objective
Can be seen or measured. Examples include the patient’s signs, blood pressure, temperature, O2 level, etc..
Teamwork
Consists of many professionals with different levels of education, ideas, backgrounds, and interests, working together for the good of the patient
Legal responsibilities
Each team member must be aware of legal limits of what they can do.
