what are hallucinations?
Usual sensory experiences, some are related to events in the environment, some bear no relationship.
what are delusions (Paranoia)
Delusions are irrational beliefs that are resistant to confrontation with the truth. These beliefs can take many forms.
what are the three forms of delusions ?
Delusions of persecution
delusions of grandeur
delusions of controls
what are delusions of persecution?
The belief that others want to harm, threaten or manipulate you.
what are Delusions of grandeur ?
the idea that you are an important individual, even god-like and have extraordinary powers e.g the belief that they are Jesus christ is a frequent of this type of delusion.
what are delusions of control?
This is where individuals may believe that they are under the control of an alien force that has invaded their mind and/or body. This may be interpreted, for example, as the presence of spirits or implanted radio transmitters.
what are psychomotor Disturbances ?
Stereotypical- rocking backwards and forwards, twitches and repetitive behaviours.
What is catatonia?
It is staying in position for hours/ days on end, cut off from the world.
