Frontal Sinus
An air-filled cavity within the frontal bone, located above the eyebrows.
Olfactory Nerve (CNI)
Cranial nerve responsible for the sense of smell.
Kiesselbach’s Plexus
A vascular network in the anterior part of the nasal septum that is a common site for nosebleeds.
Nasal Turbinates
Three bony projections (superior, middle, inferior) that increase surface area for air filtration and humidification.
Paranasal Sinuses
Air-filled spaces in the skull that communicate with the nasal cavity and are lined with mucous membranes.
Uvula
A free projection hanging from the middle of the soft palate; aids in speech and swallowing.
Palatine Tonsil
Lymphoid tissue located in the oropharynx, involved in immune response.
Torus Palatinus
A benign bony growth seen in the midline of the hard palate; more common in certain populations.
Leukoedema
A benign grayish white area on the buccal mucosa, more common in some ethnic groups.
Epistaxis
Medical term for nosebleeds.
Dysphagia
Difficulty swallowing.
Halitosis
Bad breath, often due to poor oral hygiene or infection.
Frenulum
A midline fold of tissue that connects the tongue to the floor of the mouth.
Aphthous Ulcer
A recurring, painful ulcer occurring in the oral cavity.
Cleft Lip
A congenital split in the upper lip that can be partial or complete.
Dental Caries
Tooth decay caused by bacterial infection leading to cavities.
Gingivitis
Inflammation of the gums, often leading to bleeding and discomfort.
Fissured Tongue
A condition where the surface of the tongue has deep grooves or cracks.
Candidiasis
A fungal infection in the mouth, often referred to as thrush.
