Atomic Nucleus
The core structure of an atom composed of protons and neutrons, containing almost all of the atom's mass.
Atomic Number
The specific number of protons contained within an atom's nucleus.
Noble Gases
Chemically unreactive elements that have eight electrons in their outer shell.
Relationship Between Light Wavelength and Frequency
An inverse relationship where an increase in the wavelength of light results in a decrease in frequency.
Relationship Between Light Frequency and Energy
A direct relationship where an increase in the frequency of light results in an increase in energy.
Photon Emission
The release of energy as a photon when an excited electron falls back to its ground state.
Magnesium Ion
A magnesium atom that has lost two electrons, resulting in a charge of 2+.
Bromide Ion
A bromine atom that has gained an electron, resulting in a charge of −1 (or −).
Potassium Iodide
An ionic salt with the chemical formula KI.
Lithium Sulfide
An ionic salt with the chemical formula Li2S.
Aluminium Sulfide
An ionic salt with the chemical formula Al2S3.
