Spinal Meninges
Protective coverings of the spinal cord, consisting of three layers: dura mater, arachnoid mater, and pia mater.
Dura Mater
The outermost layer of the spinal meninges, providing a tough protective covering.
Arachnoid Mater
The middle layer of the spinal meninges, resembling a spider web and enclosing the subarachnoid space.
Pia Mater
The innermost layer of the spinal meninges that is tightly adhered to the spinal cord.
Cervical Plexus
A network of nerves formed by the ventral rami of the cervical spinal nerves, including the phrenic nerve.
Brachial Plexus
A network of nerves that arises from the brachial region, including major nerves such as the axillary, radial, and ulnar nerves.
Monosynaptic Reflex
A reflex involving a simple connection between a sensory neuron and a motor neuron, such as a stretch reflex.
Polysynaptic Reflex
A reflex that involves one or more interneurons between sensory and motor neurons, such as the withdrawal reflex.
Dermatome Maps
A map that shows the areas of skin innervated by specific spinal nerves.
Anterior Spinal Artery
A single artery that supplies blood to the anterior portion of the spinal cord.
