* DO NOT back up in school property unless absolutely nessesary. If nessesary, you must get as resposible adult who is a teacher or another driver. If no adult is around call dispatch who will call the school to get a teacher to help you.
Never leave the vehicle without?
Never leave the vehicle without first stopping the engine, setting the brakes, putting the transmission on its lowest gear or park position and removing the ignition key. Some automatic transmission vehicles do not have a “park” position. If this is the case, the vehicle should be parked with the transmission in “neutral” and the parking brake set.

Secure the area with reflectors: 1 - 1 foot from the back bumper, 2 - 30/100ft from the back bumper, and 3 - 30/100ft from the front bumper. (Do the back first in most break down circumstances where you have broken down in the direction of traffic and not between lanes)
Stay with you bus unless directed otherwise hy dispatch.
Reasure passengers and keep them informed.
Evacuate the bus only if nessesary.

6 things to remember during all emergency evacuation procedures.
Get the students to leave the bus in safe order: choose your evacuation style based on which exit is furthest away from the emergency or the quickest and safest (like split style if stuck on train tracks)
Get them to evacuate from students closest to the emrgency first (or opposite side of the bus you are exiting
Get them to alternate from side to side when exiting the seats (left, right - next row - left, right - next row - … continue untill bus is evacuated).
Instruct students to leave all belongings behind except medical nessesary items.
You must take your cell phone and route copy so you can take attendance at the meet up area
Always be the last to leave the bus

Less than 3m from the front: because the hood blacks the drivers view of the students
The back: because drivers cant see what’s behind them directly or in any mirror
The passenger side rear area: Students are in danger of getting run over by the rear wheels when lining up or running beside the bus as well as being hit by the tail swing when the bus pulls out to leave from a stop.
What are the 4 “Hours of service rules” for a day, and 1 for 14 days?
Cannot drive more than 13hrs
Cannot drive affter being on duty for more than 14hrs
Cannot drive affter 16hrs has elapsed (regression of how long you have been on duty, clock starts at inspection)
Must take at least 10hrs off in a day. 8hrs must be consecutive.
Must have 24hrs off duty affter 14 days of straight work.

Working bus pulls up to the driver side of the broken down bus 10ft past the front bumper (enough to open the door)
One or both buses put on their redschoolers when transferring (depending on who is on the travel portion of the road)
