The Beaver Wars

A long strip of wars that was between the Iroquois and other speaking tribes( the Huron). Was meant to control trade with the Dutch and the French and replace people that were lost by disease. This led to the annihilation of most Iroquoain who didn’t join the six nations. The French and Dutch incorporated into existing trading alliances, but their guns, diseases and their demand for furs disrupted the natural, social and political balance of indigenous people in modern Canada and New York.

Plantation Act

This act enabled foreign born colonists to obtain British Citizenship once they spent seven years in a colony, sworn allegiance to the king, took communion in a protestant church and paid two shilling fees. Was used to attract colonists, because it allowed legal ownership of land and the right to vote for legislative assemblies. Catholics and Jews weren’t able to get citizenship.

The British government established a tax on paper products in the colonies, including newspapers, books, and legal documents, to help pay for the expense of the seven years war.In protest merchants attempted to organize the first colonial boycott of English goods. Colonists believed they should pay for the empire through trade, not taxes.

The Boston Tea Party happened in the year 1773 when the members of the Sons of Liberty tossed 342 chests of tea owned by the British East India company in the Boston Harbor. The tea was worth £10,000 pounds, 4 million in today’s currency. England retaliate by occupying Boston and blocking all trade in and out of the city in addition the first continental Congress was organized to protest the treatment of Boston
