Projection
The process by which the brain refers sensations to their point of stimulation.
Proprioception
An awareness of the activities of muscles, tendons, and joints.
Circumvallate papillae
Papillae located in an inverted V-shaped row at the posterior portion of the tongue.
Sclera
The technical name for the 'white of the eye'.
Vascular tunic
Layer of the eye that includes the choroids, iris, and ciliary body; macula lutea is not included.
Iris
The structure that regulates the amount of light entering the eyeball.
Retina
Region of the eye primarily concerned with image formation.
Central fovea
Location of the densest concentration of cones in the eye.
Vitreous chamber
The region of the eyeball that contains the vitreous body.
Auditory ossicles
Structures found in the middle ear that are attached to the eardrum, each other, and the oval window.
Cristae in semicircular ducts
Receptors for dynamic equilibrium.
Labyrinth
Another name for the internal ear.
Static equilibrium
Orientation of the body relative to the force of gravity.
Adaptation
The inability to feel a sensation consciously even though a stimulus is still being applied.
