Enteral feeding (tube feeding)
A tube delivers liquid food directly to the stomach or small intestine (via nose or surgically placed tube). It’s used when the GI tract works but the person can’t eat
Parenteral nutrition (TPN)
Nutrients are given through an IV into the bloodstream. It’s used when the GI tract doesn't work properly.
Colostomy
A stoma (opening) is made in the abdomen, and the end of the colon is brought to the surface. Waste exits into a colostomy bag.

Ileostomy
Similar to a colostomy, a surgical procedure that creates an opening in the abdomen (a stoma) to allow waste to exit the body, bypassing the colon and rectum. This is done when the colon is unable to function properly or has been removed. The end of the small intestine (ileum) is attached to the skin through the stoma, and waste is collected in a pouch
