Muriatic Acid
Lowers pH levels
Added to Skimmers (Closest to the pump room if possible)
Shock
Raises chlorine levels quickly, and kills algae
*Temporary!
Chlorine Sticks
Chlorinates pools through Rainbow Chlorinators
*Has chlorine, acid & stabilizer built in!
Add to Chlorinator during Cleanings MWFSun.
Do NOT add if 1 full stick already inside feeder.
Cyanuric Acid (Stabilizer)
Binds to the chlorine to help hold it in the pool (stabilizes the chlorine levels)
Ideal level: 55 ppm. We do NOT add weekly if 70 ppm or above.
pH Up/Soda Ash
Raises pH levels
Calcium
Raises calcium levels
*Prolongs the health of the plaster
Ideal level: 250 - 300 ppm. We add amount on manager notes!!!
Sodium Bicarbonate
Raises alkalinity levels
*Helps to stabilize pH levels
Ideal level: 95 ppm. We add amount on manager notes!!!
Multi-Port Valve
Directs the flow of water through the filter
*Allows us to backwash, rinse and filter the pool water
Ball Valve
Allows the flow of water through the pipe (usually used with fill-lines)
*Parallel = Open, Perpendicular = Closed
Hair and Lint Strainer
Catches small debris before reaching the filter tank
Return Cap
Returns filtered water to the pool
Main Drain
Helps circulate the pool water
Bleach Siphon and Weight
Weighs down the bleach line and allow only bleach to be sucked into the line.
One directional (water cannot flow back in from the pipe)
Bleach Line
Carries bleach into the pipes to chlorinate the pool
Injection Fitting
Injects bleach into the pool and prevents water from flowing back through the bleach line
Bleach Barrel
Stores bleach
Rainbow Chlorinator
Chlorinates pool water with sticks
Pump
Creates suction and flow of water
Motor
Turns the impeller and causes suction and flow
Filter Tank
Filters water and collects first and particles within
*Filters from top to bottom
Pressure Gauge (PSI)
Allows for reading of the pressure within the filter due to the buildup of dirt and particles
Skimmer
Pulls debris off the surface
Skimmer Basket
Catches and collects debris from the pool surface
Skimmer Puck
Controls the suction and flow of water through the skimmer
Vacuum Cap
Acts as a precautionary measure and covers the vacuum line
Pulsar Briquettes
Chlorinates the pool water through a pulsar system
Salt
Chlorinates pool water through NaCl (Sodium-Chloride) conversion
Must be above 3000 PPM to Chlorinate (5000 Chlorking)
(AMS Keeps 400 Above: 3400 & 5400 PPM)
Air Bleeder Valve
Bleeds extra air out of the system and helps prime it up
CAT Controller
Controls the chlorine and pH digitally
Butterfly Valve
Directs the flow/amount of water through the pipe
*Parallel = Open, Perpendicular = Closed
Jandy Valve
Directs the flow/amount of water through the pipe
*Parallel = Closed, Perpendicular = Open
Dolphin Feeder
Pumps liquid chemicals (mainly bleach) into the pool water
Stenner Feeder
Pumps liquid chemicals into the pool water
Sight Glass
Allows you to see water moving through the backwash line
MA Chlorinator
Chlorinates water using chlorine sticks
Heyward Chlorinator
Chlorinates water using chlorine sticks
Mustard Algae Killer / Yellow Treat
Treats yellow algae
Flow Meter
Monitors the pressure/flow of water going through the system
Ring Buoy
Used to throw to a GID while no lifeguard is on duty
Throw Rope
Used to reel the ring buoy back once thrown to GID (connects to the ring buoy)
Shepard's Hook
Helps rescue a GID while no lifeguard is on duty
Vacuum Head
Used to vacuum the pool
Vacuum Pole
Helps aid in vacuuming, skimming, brushing, and other tasks
Vacuum Hose
Used to vacuum the pool
Skimmer Net
Collects debris from the top, middle, and bottom of the pool
Test Kit
Used to test pool chemicals
Hair and Lint Strainer Basket
Collects debris that have entered the system through any of the possible lines
Salt Feeder
Chlorinates pool water through a percent conversion (salt) method
Salt Cell
Converts salt to chlorine
Pulsar Feeder
Chlorinates pool water through the water of pulsar pellets
Yellow Wrist Band
Chemicals (Chlorinator is OFF normal settings)
Blue Wrist Band
Water (Fill line is on)
Red Wrist Band
Pool Draining (Backwashing)
Purple Wrist Band
Return Valve (Returned valve is closed).
*For Below-Grade Systems
Pink Wrist Band
Heater (Heater is turned OFF)
Hammerhead
A specialized pool vacuum, used for cleaning pool surfaces and removing debris.
Used as an alternative to system vacuuming if available.
Must use system vac if hammerhead is not working or dirt too fine/small for hammerhead.
Full Chems
Includes Bicarb, Calcium and Stabilizer.
Checked every SUNDAY, inputted into Chem Doc. Added on WEDNESDAY from amounts instructed in MANAGER NOTES.
Acid Washing
Done every SUNDAY. Cleans crystallized bleach from the bleach line to prevent clogging of the bleach line up to the injection fitting.
Ideal Chem Levels
3/7.4 - Bleach / Stick Pools
5/7.4 - Saltwater / Deepwater / Mega Pools
Is it acceptable to leave a Bleach Pool Cl at a 3/7.2?
YES!
Bleach naturally makes pH rise! It will rise up to a 7.4 on its own.
Is it acceptable to leave a Salt Pool Cl at a 5/7.2?
YES!
Salt naturally makes pH rise! It will rise up to a 7.4 on its own.
Is it acceptable to leave a Stick Pool Cl at a 3/7.2?
NO!
Sticks contain acid, naturally making pH decrease! It will decrease to a 7.0 and below.
Is it acceptable to leave a Stick Pool Cl at a 5/7.6?
YES!
Sticks contain acid, naturally making pH decrease! It will decrease to a 7.4.
Ideal Full Chems
Stabilizer 50 - 60 ppm.
Alkalinity: 90 - 100 ppm.
Calcium: 250 - 300 ppm.
Salt: 3400 ppm. 5400 ppm for Chlorking
