Structure of body parts.

Branch of science concerned with the study of body function.
Gross anatomy
Anatomy on a macroscopic (large-scale) level.
Histology
Anatomy at the tissue level.
Cytology
Anatomy at the cellular level.
Axial
Pertaining to the head, neck, and trunk.
Appendicular
Pertaining to the upper and lower limbs.
Cranial Cavity
Space in the skull containing the brain.
Vertebral Cavity
Space within the vertebral column that contains the spinal cord.
Thoracic Cavity
Cavity in the chest that contains the heart and lungs.
Abdominal Cavity
Space between the diaphragm and pelvis containing abdominal viscera.
Pelvic Cavity
Space within the pelvic bones containing pelvic organs like reproductive and urinary systems.
Mediastinum
Compartment in the thoracic cavity between the lungs.
Viscera
Organs within the thoracic and abdominal cavities.
Diaphragm
Sheet-like skeletal muscle that separates the thoracic and abdominal cavities.
Parietal membranes
Membranes attached to the walls of body cavities.
Visceral membranes
Membranes that cover organs.
Pleural membranes
Membranes surrounding the lungs, separated by pleural fluid.
Pericardial membranes
Membranes surrounding the heart.
Peritoneal membranes
Membranes in the abdominal cavity (parietal and visceral peritoneum).
Integumentary system
System comprising hair, nails, and skin.
Skeletal system
Bones, cartilage, ligaments, and joints that support the body.
Muscular system
System of muscles that move the body (including skeletal muscles).
Nervous system
System of the brain, spinal cord, and nerves.
