Reliability

About how similar repeated measurements are to each other or to an average.

Ecosystem

Habitat + Community.

Habitat

The places where an organisms Live.

Community

ALL the Living things in the ecosystem.

Pitfall Traps

Allows you to capture, identify and count ground dwelling insects.

Pooter

ALLOWS you to capture, identify and count insects from trees and bushes.

Transect

Can be used to study the gradual changes in distribution of organisms across an ecosystem.

Quadart

Use to estimate the abundance of plant of slows moving animal species in an ecosystem.

Vertebrates

Have a skeleton inside their bodies that provides support, protection to organs, and allows mucles to be attached for movement.

Invertebrates

Animals that do not have a skeleton inside their bodies.

Exoskeleton

A crunchy or tough outside skeleton that provides support and protection for some invertebrates.

Biodiversity

A measure of health where the more species found in an area, the higher it is.

Caledonian Forest

An example of an area with High Biodiversity.

Fertilisers

Chemicals added to the soil to improve crop yield, which can be natural (manure) or artifical.

Soluble

Means the fertiliser can dissolve in water, allowing it to be absorbed by plant roots.

Agriculture

The practice of farming, including cultivation of the soil for growing crops and the rearing of animals.

Photosynthesis Equation

$$\text{Light} + \text{Water} + \text{Carbon Dioxide} = \text{food (sugar)} + \text{Oxygen}$$

NPK

Symbols for the nutrients in fertilisers: $N$ (Nitrogen), $P$ (Phosphorus), and $K$ (Potassium).

NPK Ratio Calculation

$$\text{10kg Nitrogen : 5kg Phosphorus : 15kg Potassium} = 10:5:15 \div 5 = 2:1:3$$

Eye piece Lens

Part of a microscope that enlarges the image.

Light source

Part of a microscope that sends Light up through the slide.

Focusing dial

Part of a microscope that moves the slide closer to or further from the Lens.

Vacule

A specific part found in a plant cell.

Amfibians

Cold-blooded animals with moist skin that live on Land and water and go through metamorphosis.

Metamorphosis

A stage of growing that Amfibians go through.

Raptiles

Cold-blooded animals with ear holes and scales that are born from eggs and have 4 Leg or no legs.
