Organization that has control over territory and behavior of it’s citizens, through force. it establishes internal control. citizens in a state cede power for internal control. states also provide protection to external threats

poltical system that sets the fundemental rules and norms of poltics. represented as a scale between democratic or authoritarian, and is often a spectrum for most countries.
Democratic Regime
meaning originates from “ruled by the people” in this system, civil liberties are protected, transparency and accountability is maintained by the government, differs in policy making between direct vs. indirect representation.
Authoritative Regime
Political elite make descions and policies, people have littl/no checks on goverment power, little say in government decision, limited personal freedoms
