Self Concept
It refers to your awareness of yourself. (ideal self and actual self)
Actual Self-Image
Is the one that you can see. Is who we actually are. It is how we think, feel, look, and act.
Self Knowledge
Is derived from social interactions that provides insight into how others react to you. It is understanding your own thoughts, feelings, strengths, and weaknesses. insights into how others react to you; is understanding your own
Ideal Self
Is the self that you aspire to be. Is how we want to be. It is an idealized image that we have developed overtime, based on what we have learned and experienced.
Social Roles
The parts we play in society based on our relationships and responsibilities.
ROGER’S SELF-CONCEPT
The larger the discrepancies (lack of similarities) between the two – self and ideal-self – the more psychological problems are one experiences.
Incongruent Self Image
The self image os different to the ideal self. There is only a little overlap. Here, self actualization will be difficult
Congruent Self-Image
The self image is similar to the ideal self. There is a more overlap. This person can self-actualise
