Nucleolus

Produeces and assemples the cells ribosomes

Chromosome

Carries genetic information in DNA

Chromatin

Consists of unwound DNA and proteins that condense to form chromosomes

Nuclear Envelope

Encloses the nucleus and regulates the movement of materials in and out of it

Mitochondria

Generates chemical energy needed to power the cell’s reactions (ATP)

Golgi Apparatus

Modifies, sorts, and packages proteins and lipids for storage or transport out the cell

Lysosome

Contains digestive enxymes to break down waste materials and cellular debris

Endoplasmic Reticulum

Synthesizes proteins and lipids while helping transport materials throughout the cell

Plasma Membrane

Protects the cell and controls the passage of substances into and out of the cell

Ribosome

Synthesizes proteins by translating messenger RNA sequences

Centrioles

Helps organize microtubule assmebly during cell division (It is also the building block to make the structure of a centrosome)

Centrosome

Acts as the main microtubule-organizing center of the cell

Cytoskeleton

Provides structural support, shape, and internal organization to the cell

Cilia

Short, hair-like projections that move fluid or materials across the cell surface

Flagella

Long, whip-like structures that propel a cell through liquid

Microvilli

Tiny, finger-like extensions of the plasma membrane that increase surface area for absorption

Peroxisomes

Break down fatty acids and neutralize toxic peroxides within the cell

Microtubules

Hollow protein tubes that maintain cell shape and aid in chromosome movement during cell division

Microfiliaments

Thin protein fibers that assist in cell movement and structural support

Vesicles (think vehicle (transport))

Small membrane-bound sacs that transport and store substances within the cell

Inside the cell nucleus

The nucleus of the cell

Throughout the entire cytoplasm

Where is the Cilia located?

The outer surface of the plasma membrane

Where is the flagella located?

Outward from the surface of the plasma membrane

Where is the Microvilli located?

The apical (highest point) surface of the plasma

Where is the Peroxisomes located?

Throughout the cytoplasm

Where are the Microtubules located?

Throughout the cytoplasm from the centrosome

Where is the Microfilaments located?

Throughout the cytoplasm from, especially concentrated beneath the plasma membrane

Where are the vesicles located?

Distributed throughout the cytoplasm near membranes and organelles
