shaped by valuing indigenous peoples and their distinct languages, cultures, histories and unique ways of life. people with an indigenous perspective understand that indigenous people’s lives are part of, and inseperable from the land

shaped by someone’s beliefs, values and experiences which are from their culture or environment e.g. pasifika cultures value religion and family

bicultural experience

shaped by the values, beliefs and experiences of two different cultures e.g. someone who values both Maori and Pakeha cultures

eurocentric

centered on western civilization or a biased view that favours it over non western societies, implicity regarding European cultures are more distinguished than others

multicultural perspective

shaped by the values, beliefs and experiences of many different cultures e.g. someone who values all cultures contributions to NZ

left wing political perspective

shaped by valuing the rights of society over the rights of the individual. people with a left wing perspective value the governmentns role in addressing inequality and often have progressive views on issues such as state welfare and LGBTQIA+

right wing political perspective

shaped by valuing the rights of the individual over the rights of society. people with a right wing political perspective value business and its role in driving the economy - generally they prioritize economic growth ahead of social concerns. they typically believe that sucsess comes from hard work and determination and argue in favor of lower tax rates

nationalist perspective

shaped by valuing one country above all others. people with a nationalist perspective value the culture and interests of their country and believe that loyalty to their country surpasses any other individual or group interest

cultural perspective

valuing the importance of cultures and the history they have to offer as well as the traditions. culture needs to be protected and cherished so that minorities do not become washed away

social justice perspective

focuses on fair and equitable treatment as well as distributing resource freely and fairly

conservativism perspective

believing that things should not be changing and that back in the old days, things were better

consumerism perspective

links wellbeing to continued purchasing of goods as well as focuses on economic growth
