Energy Store
A form of energy, such as kinetic, thermal, chemical, etc., in which energy can be stored.
Conservation of Energy
The principle stating that energy cannot be created or destroyed, but only transferred from one form to another.
Energy Transfer
The process of energy changing from one form to another or moving from one object to another.
Joule
The standard unit of energy, named after James Prescott Joule.
Kinetic Energy
The energy of motion; possessed by any moving object.
Elastic Potential Energy
Energy stored in objects that are stretched or compressed.
Chemical Energy
Energy stored in the bonds of chemical compounds (e.g., food, fuel, batteries).
Thermal Energy
Energy associated with the temperature of an object (heat).
Nuclear Energy
Energy stored within the nucleus of an atom.
Gravitational Potential Energy
Energy stored in an object due to its height above the ground.
Dissipate
To spread out or scatter (usually referring to energy, especially heat).
