Wellness
An active process through which people become aware of and make choices toward a more successful existence.
Spiritual Wellness
The way you find meaning, hope, inner peace, and comfort, such as having a set of values and beliefs.
Social Wellness
The way you get along with others, the ability to make friends, and showing respect for others.
Occupational Wellness
How an individual does in their career and how to keep a healthy relationship with their career, including working in a safe environment.
Emotional Wellness
Feelings about yourself, how you relate to others, and how well you meet the demands of life.
Intellectual Wellness
How we keep ourselves learning and in good cognitive condition, such as being open to exploring new things.
Environmental Wellness
How we take care and respect our environment and planet, with activities like recycling and composting.
Physical Wellness
The way that your body parts and systems work together, such as getting good rest to fuel daily activities.
Specific (SMART)
The first criteria in the SMART goal-setting framework, ensuring the goal is clearly defined.
Measurable (SMART)
The criteria in SMART goals used to track progress and determine when a goal has been reached.
Attainable (SMART)
Ensuring that a health goal is realistic and possible to achieve.
Relevant (SMART)
Ensuring the goal matters to the individual and aligns with other relevant goals.
Time-bound (SMART)
The criteria identifying the specific deadline or timeframe for a goal.
Decision-Making Process Steps
Identify the decision, gather information, identify alternatives, weigh the evidence, choose among alternatives, take action, and review your decision.
Mental Health
Pertains to our emotional, social, and psychological wellbeing; it determines how we regulate emotions, stress, and behaviors.
Emotional Health
A person's ability to handle, express, and accept their feelings, including coping with emotions to carry on with daily life.
ADHD
A mental health disorder characterized by inattention, hyperactivity and/or impulsivity.
Anxiety
A persistent feeling of anticipated stress that doesn’t go away and involves difficult to control fear and worries.
Depression
Constant and unending feelings of hopelessness; clinical diagnosis requires a depressive episode to persist for at least 2 weeks.
Eating Disorders (Definition)
Disturbance in eating behaviors and unhealthy eating habits, such as binging, purging, or extreme restrictions, that are potentially harmful.
Substance Abuse
Addiction to drugs or alcohol which can affect health and the ability to function in daily life.
Chronic Stress
Persistent stress that can lead to exhaustion, impaired judgment, mood swings, a weakened immune system, and digestive issues.
Fight or Flight
An adrenaline response triggered when the body takes a perceived threat as a physical threat.
Violence
An action that causes physical harm.
Abuse
Persistent emotional and physical mistreatment.
Intensity (Warning Sign)
When a partner is insistently loving and very fast paced to the point it borders on obsessive.
Volatility (Warning Sign)
When a relationship has very high highs and very low lows, becoming an emotional roller coaster.
Belittling (Warning Sign)
When a partner makes hurtful comments or stories and refuses to accept that their actions were harmful.
Extreme Jealousy (Warning Sign)
When a partner becomes extremely possessive, mistrusting, or demands to know where you are at all times.
Isolation (Warning Sign)
When a partner insists that you only spend time with them, cutting you off from friends and family.

Strategies used to avoid peer pressure, such as walking away or lying.
Peer Pressure
When teenagers or friends pressure someone directly or indirectly via the normalization of a decision.
Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)
Infections transmitted through sexual activity that are normally curable.
Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs)
Diseases transmitted through sexual activity that cannot be cured.
