Describe Anatomical Position
Body is erect or upright
Head is directed towards front of body as are the eyes
Upper limbs are relaxed and down to the side of the body
Palms are directed anteriorly and not rotated
Feet shoulder width apart with toes directed to the front

Frontal plane - Sagittal axis
Sagittal plane - frontal axis
Transverse plane - Vertical axis
What does Bi lateral mean?
Paired structure. One on both sides of the body (biceps femoris)
Both sides move at the same time (Squat)
What does Unilateral mean?
Unpaired structure (Stomach)
One side only (Lunge)
What does contralateral mean?
Structures on opposite side of the body are different
Movement that occurs using muscles on the opposite sides of the body (across the body)
What does Ipsilateral mean?
Structures on the same side of the body (Hand and Knee)
Movement occurs with same side of the body
Where do movements occur?
At the joint
What causes the movement to occur?
Muscles, Gravity
What is the definition of flexion?
Decrease in joint angle
Brings bones closer together
What plane is flexion in?
Sagittal
What joints can do flexion?
Acetabulofemoral
