Pelvic Girdle (Male)
Closer together with narrow hips; supports body weight and protects organs.

Pelvic Girdle (Female)
Wider with a bigger opening; supports body weight, protects organs, and allows for childbirth.

Coxal
Bone located on the sides of the pelvis, made of ilium, ischium, and pubis; supports body weight, protects organs, and helps with leg movement.

Femur
Thigh bone located in the upper leg, between the hip and knee; supports body weight and allows leg movement.

Patella
Knee cap located at the front of the knee joint; protects the knee and assists in leg movement.

Tibia
Larger bone in the lower leg, on the inside; supports most of the body’s weight.

Fibula
Smaller bone in the lower leg, on the outside; helps with stability but does not carry much weight.

Tarsals
Bones in the ankle and upper foot that help the foot move and support weight.

Metatarsals
Bones located in the middle of the foot; support weight and aid in walking.

Phalanges
Bones in the toes that assist with balance and movement.

Phalanges (Proximal)
Bones closest to the metatarsals in the toes.

Phalanges (Medial)
Bones located between the proximal and distal phalanges in the toes.

Phalanges (Distal)
Bones located at the tips of the toes.
