God the Father
God created the world through His speech; creation ex nihilo.
God the Son
In John's account, God the Son brings all things into being and is an essential part of creation.
God the Holy Spirit
Prepared the formless void for God, like a bird preparing its nest; present during creation.

Reminds Christians of God's omnipotence through speech and inspires awe through creation.
Trinity
Distinguishes Christianity from other monotheistic religions and shows that God is relational.
Jesus

Pray thanksgiving for the world; feel awe at God's creation (sunsets, flowers).
Salvation
Jesus paid the penalty for human sin on the cross; reconciliation with God.
Salvation is dependent
Salvation is only possible because Jesus reconciled humanity with God.
Grace's Role
Needed because no one deserves to be saved; God's grace meant that the penalty for sin was paid.
Law's Role
Catholics believe faith must be put into action; Protestants believe in sola fide (faith alone).
Holy Spirit's Role
Spiritually transforms a believer's heart and acts as a guide for believers.
Heaven
Eternity in the presence of God; only possible because of God's grace.
Hell/Atonement
A physical place or not a physical place; Atonement was achieved when Jesus died on the cross; symbolized by the tearing of the temple curtain.
Heaven (Feelings)
Comforted because suffering is temporary, only through God's Salvation.
Ascension
Evidence Jesus truly was the Son of God; gives Christians hope that Jesus will return.
Parusia
All people will be raised from the dead because God has defeated death.
Day of Judgement
Catholics believe they will be judged on faith and good works; Protestants believe they will be judged on faith alone.
Ascension (Feelings)
Strengthens faith because Jesus was truly the Son of God; gives them hope because Jesus will return and justice will be served.
Parusia (Feelings)
Feel hopeful because they will be risen and it strengthens their faith because God is omnipotent.
Incarnation
Shows humans the way to heaven; means that Jesus' sacrifice was sufficient.
Crucifixion
Atonement was achieved when Jesus died on the cross; symbolized by the tearing of the temple curtain.
Resurrection
Proves that Jesus truly was the Son of God; Evidence to God's power.
Incarnation (Actions)
Pray prayers of thanksgiving because they are grateful that God became human; follow Jesus' teachings because he is a God incarnate.
Crucifixion (Feelings)
Feel comforted because God understands human suffering in times of pain; forgive others because Jesus did on the cross.
Resurrection (Feelings)
Gives Christians hope because they know God defeated the power of death; Follows Jesus' teachings because he is a God incarnate.
Creation of the Universe
God created the universe ex nihilo (out of nothing); proves God's omnipotence.
Creation of Humanity
Humans were created imago dei (in the image of God) and given a soul from God.
Consequences of Sin (Original Sin)
Humans were born with original sin because of the fall; the perfect relationship between God and man was broken.
Creation of the Universe (Actions)
Pray prayers of thanksgiving because they are grateful to God for creating a place for humans to live; follow ethical practices.
Original Sin (Actions)
Forgive because humans were created in the image of God; feel grateful because the penalty of sin has been paid by Jesus; repent because they know they need God's forgiveness.
Omnipotence
Powerful that he created the universe ex nihilo using only his voice; powerful enough to defeat the power of death
Omnibenevolence
God sent Jesus to sacrifice him and created a beautiful world for humans to live in.
Justice
God will establish perfect justice on the Day of Judgement and gives humans guidance on how to live righteously; gave the law to Moses.
Omnipotence (Actions)
Worship God because he is worthy of worship; pray in times of need because God can intervene.
Omnibenevolence (Actions)
Pray in times of need because God cares enough to intervene; emulate God's love because God is a perfect being.
Justice (Actions)
Mimic God's justice because God is a perfect being (treating others fairly); feel comforted because on the Day of Judgement, God will establish perfect justice.
