PRojects IN Controlled Environments (PRINCE)
The main principles of the methodology focuses on the management of resources and risks within a business, by dividing projects into different stages with clearly defined roles and responsibilities for the individuals involved. The stages are:
Continued business justification
Learn from experience
Roles and responsibilities are clearly defined
Management by stages
Manage by exception
Focus on products
Tailor the project
Agile
Focuses on the project lifecycle by breaking down large projects into smaller chunks, meaning that teams can produce work faster to optimise their workflow and focus on continuous improvements to reduce errors. The project team re-evaluates what it is doing at different points and adjusts when required to change focus, so that the work can be completed.
SCRUM
More of a framework than a tool, as it encourages individuals to think in a particular way in order in order to get work completed. The thinking concerns continuously improving and adjusting to the fluctuations in various factors. Acknowledges that the team may not know everything at the start of a project, but this will evolve through experience of the project. The team will be led by a master who will support the values of:
Courage
Focus
Commitment
Respect
Openness
