Right Ventricle
Pumps deoxygenated blood to the lungs.
SA Node
The pacemaker of the heart that sets the rate of heartbeat.
Ectopic Rhythm
A heartbeat originating outside the SA node.
Deoxygenated Blood
Type of blood that the right side of the heart receives.
Stroke Volume
The amount of blood pumped by the heart with each beat.
Ejection Fraction
The percentage of blood that is pumped out of the heart with each contraction.
Congestive Heart Failure
A chronic condition in which the heart does not pump blood as well as it should.
Pulse Pressure
The difference between systolic and diastolic blood pressure.
Mean Arterial Pressure
The average pressure in a person's arteries during one cardiac cycle.
Chyme
The acidic fluid that passes from the stomach to the small intestine, consisting of gastric juices and partly digested food.
Bile
A digestive fluid produced by the liver that helps in the digestion of fats.
Hepatic Portal Vein
The vein that carries nutrient-rich blood from the digestive organs to the liver.
CCK (Cholecystokinin)
A hormone that stimulates the gallbladder to contract and release bile.
Basilar Artery
An artery supplying blood to the brainstem and cerebellum.
Atrial Depolarization
The electrical activity in the heart represented by the P wave in an EKG.
Ventricular Depolarization
The electrical activity in the heart represented by the QRS complex in an EKG.
Ventricular Repolarization
The recovery phase of the ventricles represented by the T wave in an EKG.
