tocolytic medications

Terbutaline; ○ Beta- adrenergic receptor agonist works to relax smooth muscle

Used for preterm labor

Side effects: angina, tachycardia, restlessness, tremor

New cards

○ Magnesium sulfate

- van be used as tocolytic but primarily used for fetal neuroprotection- works to relax smooth muscle

○ ALL have maternal side effects, contraindications

glucocorticosteroid given to enhance fetal lung maturity

12
New cards

● Assess for symptoms of pulmonary edema

○ untreated respiratory arrest will lead to cardiac arrest

● Assess I&O

● Evaluate uterine activity and FHR.

● Provide psychosocial support
