Formal Education

Education that enables an individual to get a good job, earn a decent living, raise social status, and gain purchasing power, but does not automatically teach proper behavior.

Value Education

Education that inculcates basic human values in an individual, teaching how to behave properly and use knowledge, talent, wealth, and power judiciously for personal and collective welfare.

Values

Desirable qualities, standards, or principles which act as a driving force and influence an individual's actions and reactions.

Basic Human Values

Fundamental principles guiding behavior, including courage, generosity, acceptance, beauty, commitment, excellence, family relationship, fun, harmony, health, leadership, love, prestige, respect, service, and spirituality.

Courageous Person

An individual whose deepest priorities lead them to speak out, even when doing so is dangerous.

Generous Person

An individual whose deepest priorities lead them to selflessly give money or time to help others.

Generation

The group of people born around the same period in which we live.

Integrity

A quality that means not merely honesty, but also wholeness or completeness and being true to oneself.

Alfred Nobel

The inventor of explosives who felt great remorse over his invention and set up the Nobel Peace Prize to honor individuals making extraordinary efforts to foster peace.

Emperor Ashoka

A great Indian ruler who captured the throne after killing nearly 90 kinsmen, but repented after seeing the bloodshed of the Kalinga War, became a follower of the Buddha, and served the people's welfare.

Adolf Hitler

The head of the German Empire who used power obtained through force to confiscate property, start the Second World War, and kill millions, eventually committing suicide when defeat was imminent.

Goal

A clearly defined objective that an individual wants to achieve in life, representing the process of moving from where one is to where one wants to be.

Goal Setting Process

The systematic sequence of steps consisting of setting a goal, making a plan, getting to work, sticking to it, and reaching the goal.
