How are disaccharides formed
When two monosaccharides chemically react together
When we make a disaccharide, we also produce a molecule of water, water molecule is formed from a hydrogen atom from one of the monosaccharides, and hydroxyl group from other. This is called condensation reaction

What happens when two alpha glucose molecules react
Creates the disaccharide called maltose.

Whats a glycosidic bond
Strong covalent bond that joins two carbohydrates together.
Whats a 1,4 glycosidic bond
Because its connected to carbon 1 on one alpha glucose and carbon 4, it is called 1,4 glycosidic bond

How do we break glycosidic bond in a disaccharide
If we add water.
Converts disaccharide back to original monosaccharides, this is called hydrolysis reaction.
How is sucrose formed
Glucose + fructose
How is lactose formed
Glucose + galactose
