Quadratic Polynomial
A polynomial of degree 2, typically in the form ax² + bx + c, where a, b, and c are constants.
Roots of a Quadratic Equation
Values of the variable that satisfy the equation ax² + bx + c = 0.
Coefficient
A numerical or constant quantity placed before a variable in an algebraic expression.
Discriminant
In a quadratic equation, the discriminant is given by b² - 4ac, and determines the nature of the roots.
Real Roots
The values for which the graph of the equation intersects the x-axis.
Equal Roots
If the discriminant of a quadratic equation is zero, the equation has two equal real roots.
Sum of Roots
In a quadratic equation ax² + bx + c = 0, the sum of the roots is given by -b/a.
Product of Roots
In a quadratic equation ax² + bx + c = 0, the product of the roots is given by c/a.
Factorization
A method of rewriting an expression as a product of its factors, often used in solving quadratic equations.
Quadratic Formula
The formula x = (-b ± √(b² - 4ac)) / (2a) used to find the roots of a quadratic equation.
Form of ax² + bx + c = 0
Standard form of a quadratic equation, where a ≠ 0.
Variable Power
The exponent to which a variable is raised in an algebraic expression.
Rectangular Area Equation
An equation expressing the relationship between the length and width of a rectangle.
Profit Percentage
A measure that represents the profit as a percentage of the cost price.
Stream Velocity Problem
A common kind of problem in math involving boats and current, affecting travel time.
Consecutive Numbers
Numbers that follow each other in order, such as 1, 2, 3 or 3, 4, 5.
Two-Digit Number Problem
Algebraic expressions that involve and relate to a number consisting of two digits.
