Balanced forces
Forces that result in a zero net force, meaning there is no change in the object's motion.
Unbalanced forces
Forces that result in a non-zero net force, causing the object's state of motion to change.
Free-body diagram
A visual tool used to identify the forces acting on an object and determine whether they are balanced or unbalanced.
Inertia
The resistance of a physical object to a change in its state of rest or motion.
Energy
The ability to do work or cause change, categorized as either Potential (stored) or Kinetic (moving).
Force
A push or pull exerted on an object that can change its state of motion.
Normal Force
A force depicted in free-body diagrams, such as when a book is on a table, which acts in opposition to gravity.
Gravity
A force that pulls objects downward, such as an apple falling from a tree or a book resting on a table.
Constant velocity
A state of motion, such as an airplane flying, where the forces of Lift, Drag, Thrust, and Weight are balanced, resulting in no change in motion.
