Universal Precautions in the Workplace

Safety first

Wear protective equipment. Check for any defects in equipment (I.E: Blowing into gloves to check for holes). Do NOT help in unsafe situations. Assume the agent is infectious and harmful!

Solution (workplace)

1:9, ratio between household bleach to water. Strong enough to kill most infectious pathogens.

Application of solution (workplace)

Fill a spray bottle with the solution and spray it onto surfaces. Wait for around 30 seconds before wiping down. Discard rag/towel, repeat steps for a second time.

Removing gloves

Remove gloves using only glove-on-glove contact, ball up first one in gloved hand. Then, with an un-gloved finger, use skin-on-skin contact to remove the second glove. Don't snap the gloves. Dispose in the same area as you did with contaminated towels.

Used for disposal of any and all contaminated materials
