PREAMBLE
Teachers are duly licensed professional who possess
dignity and reputation with high moral values as well as
technical and professional competence in the practice of
their noble profession, and they strictly adhere to, observe,
and practice this set of ethical and moral principles,
standards, and values.
Article I: Scope and Limitations
This Code applies to all teachers in public and private schools, from pre-school to college, across the country.
It serves as a guide for teachers’ behavior in school, community, and personal life.
Article II: The Teacher and the State
Teachers must obey the law and support government policies.
Promote nationalism and help preserve Filipino culture.
Example: Teach students to respect the flag and love their country.
Article III: The Teacher and the Community
Teachers are community leaders — they must be involved in community development and maintain a good public image.
Promote unity, peace, and progress.
Example: Join clean-up drives, attend barangay meetings, or lead community projects.
Article IV: The Teacher and the Profession
Teachers must act with honor, dignity, and honesty.
Avoid acts that discredit the teaching profession.
Be open to professional development (seminars, trainings, etc.).
Example: Do not cheat in board exams, falsify records, or tolerate dishonesty.
Article V: The Teachers and the Profession
(This article continues the principles of professionalism.)
Never exaggerate achievements or pretend to have degrees.
Respect fellow teachers and maintain professionalism.
Avoid backstabbing, gossip, or unfair competition
Article VI: The Teacher and the School
Be loyal and dedicated to the school.
Work well with administrators, co-teachers, and staff.
Example: Follow school rules, support school programs, and avoid disrespecting school leadership.
Article VII: The Teacher and the Learners
Students must be treated fairly and respectfully, no matter their background.
Help students grow intellectually, morally, and socially.
Do not bully, humiliate, or favor students.
Example: Avoid giving higher grades to students who give gifts.
Article VIII: The Teacher and Parents
Teachers and parents are partners in education.
Maintain open communication and mutual respect.
Example: Discuss student progress clearly and truthfully, and avoid blaming parents.
Article IX: The Teacher and Business
Avoid business that conflicts with your job.
Do not sell things to students for personal profit (e.g., selling tickets, products, etc.).
Teachers should not use their influence or position for personal financial gain.
Article X: The Teacher as a Person
Teachers must live a decent and respectable life — both inside and outside the classroom.
Maintain good manners, avoid scandals, and be a positive example.
Example: Do not post inappropriate content on social media or engage in immoral acts
Article XI: Enforcement
If a teacher violates any rule in this Code, they can be:
Reported,
Investigated, and
Penalized by the Board for Professional Teachers (PRC).
Penalties may include suspension or revocation of teaching license.
