What is the formula for speed?
Speed = distance / time (S = d/t)
What is a scalar quantity?
A quantity that has only magnitude (a number and a unit).
What is the formula for velocity?
Velocity = displacement / time (V = Δx / Δt)
What is a vector quantity?
A quantity that has both magnitude and direction.
Define mechanics in the context of motion.
The study of motion.
What is kinematics?
The study of how things move.
What is dynamics?
The study of why things move (the causes of motion).
Define frame of reference.
A coordinate system used to describe motion.
What is distance?
All the movement of the object
What is displacement?
The straight path in one direction from point A to point B.
What is momentum?
The relationship between mass and velocity.
What is the formula for momentum?
P = mv (momentum = mass * velocity)
What is acceleration?
The change in velocity with time, occurring by speeding up, slowing down, or changing direction.
What is the formula for acceleration?
a = Δv / Δt
What is free fall?
The motion of objects falling due to gravity alone, with no other forces acting on them; only occurs in a vacuum.
Name three types of motion
Linear, circular and projectile.
Describe projectile motion
2-dimentional motion of a flying object.
Define Trajectory
The path of an objects motion.
