Medial and Lateral Intermuscular Septa
Extensions of brachial fascia attaching to bone, forming fascial compartments to limit infection and hemorrhage spread in the arm.
Antebrachial Fascia
Sheath of deep fascia enclosing the forearm, continuous superiorly with brachial fascia, thickening inferiorly to form bands over distal radius and ulna.
Extensor Retinaculum
Transverse band in the posterior region of the forearm that retains extensor tendons in place.
Flexor Retinaculum (Transverse Carpal Ligament)
Forms the roof of the carpal tunnel, containing flexor tendons and the median nerve.
Palmar Carpal Ligament
In the anterior region superficial to the flexor retinaculum, and continuous with the extensor retinaculum in the posterior region.
Palmar Fascia
Inferior continuation of the antebrachial fascia onto the hand.
Palmar Aponeurosis
Thick and strong, overlies the central compartment of the palm and is continuous superiorly with the flexor retinaculum and palmaris longus tendon.
Thenar Fascia
Forms the lateral compartment of the hand, containing the thenar muscles at the base of the thumb.
Hypothenar Fascia
Forms medial compartment of hand, containing hypothenar muscles proximal to the base of the 5th finger.
Pectoralis Major
