Weathering
rain and storms and weathering break down rocks and minerals on the earth surface, phosphorus travels into soil and water sources

Absorption
by plants through the soil, by plants through water, by animals through drinking the water or eating the plants, phosphorus now in living creatures

Decomposition
animals die or excrete waste, plants die, decomposers are able to use the phosphorus in the waste materials, bacteria convert the organic phosphorus into inorganic phosphorus through mineralisation

Sedimentation
phosphorus buried in sediment layers, over time compacted into rocks again
