Direct object pronouns

Uses to replace a noun that receives the action of a verb (for who, for whom).

John eats the apple. John eats it.

John come la manzana. John la come.

Placement of direct object pronouns.

Before the verb, end of infinitives and gerunds (Yo quiero verlo, Yo estoy viéndolo).

Direct object pronouns are

me, te, lo/la, nos, os, los/las

Indirect object pronouns

Pronouns uses to replace a noun that receives the direct object (to who, to whom)

John gives flowers to Maria. John gives the flowers to her.

John da flores a Maria. Paul le da flores.

Indirect object pronouns are

me, te, le, nos, os, les

When used together…

Indirect object pronouns precede direct object pronouns.

If the indirect object pronoun is in 3rd person (le or les) and the direct object pronoun also begins with L (lo, la, los, las)

Change the indirect object pronoun to se.

Jim buys pizza for Rob and Emilie. Jim buys it for them.

Jim se la compra.
