The CBD has a high concentration of activities. A high density of transport nodes there provides access to commercial services and employment opportunities available in the CBD. (e.g., Raffles Place, City Hall, Bayfront MRT)

Major transport nodes (e.g., Little India, Chinatown, and Botanic Gardens MRT stations) provide access to popular tourist destinations rich in historical and cultural heritage.

A network that connects a set of locations directly without any interruption of service, that allows people to travel between locations directly
What is a hub-and-spoke transport network?
A network that connects every location through one intermediary location called a hub.
This allows people to travel between locations by making a transfer at the hub
Which transport network structure is commonly adopted for transport services?
Hub-and-spoke networks.
Evaluate the effectiveness of road transport and rail for short distance travel
Road → Versatile for short distances below 500km, but carries a smaller volume than rail per trip.
Rail is more cost-efficient for large volumes over moderate distances ranging from 500- 1,500 km.
