Programs that traversed the Web, cataloguing pages to match against the search words.
Also known as Web crawlers.
PageRank Algorithm
Is used to produce high quality search results.
Ranks pages based on their perceived value and trustworthiness.
Web page
Is nothing more than a text document that contains formatting information in a language called HTML.
URL (Uniform Resource Language)
Also known as its web address.
Has specific names so that users can identify them and browsers can locate them.
Hyperlink
Represents a connection to another page and is usually displayed in a web page as underlined, colored text.
HTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol)
The protocol that determines how messages exchanged between browsers and servers are formatted.
Caching
a technique that stores copies of data in a temporary location to speed up access to that data.
Cookies
Small, special-purpose files that can be stored by the browser on your computer when you visit a Website.
