Além de — ex: "In addition to coding, she also manages the team."
"Besides"
Além disso / Aliás — ex: "Besides, we don't have time to redo it."
"However"
Porém/No entanto (contraste forte, geralmente começa frase) — ex: "The plan was good. However, it failed."
"Nevertheless" / "Nonetheless"
Mesmo assim/Ainda assim (contraste mais formal) — ex: "It was risky. Nevertheless, we tried it."
"On the other hand"
Por outro lado — ex: "He's fast. On the other hand, he makes mistakes."
"Although" / "Even though"
Embora/Apesar de que (seguido de frase completa) — ex: "Although it was late, we finished the task."
"Despite" / "In spite of"
Apesar de (seguido de substantivo ou gerúndio, não frase completa) — ex: "Despite the rain, we went out."

Enquanto que (compara duas coisas opostas) — ex: "She likes tea, whereas I prefer coffee."

"Make" vs "Do" - regra geral
"Make" = criar/produzir algo novo (make a decision, make a mistake, make money). "Do" = realizar uma atividade/tarefa genérica (do homework, do exercise, do the dishes).
"Make a decision"
Tomar uma decisão (nunca "take a decision" em inglês, apesar do português "tomar").
"Do a favor"
Fazer um favor — ex: "Can you do me a favor?"
"Make progress"
Fazer progresso — ex: "We're making good progress on the project."
"Do business"
Fazer negócios — ex: "It's a pleasure to do business with you."
"Make an effort"
Fazer um esforço — ex: "She made an effort to arrive on time."
"Say" vs "Tell" - regra geral
"Say" não precisa de objeto pessoal direto (say something). "Tell" sempre precisa de um objeto pessoal (tell someone something) — ex: "She said hello." vs "She told me the truth."
"Tell a story/joke/lie"
Contar uma história/piada/mentira — sempre usa "tell", nunca "say" nesses casos.
"Say goodbye"
Dizer adeus — ex: "I said goodbye and left."
"Bring" vs "Take" - regra geral
"Bring" = trazer, movimento em direção ao falante/local onde ele está. "Take" = levar, movimento para longe do falante — ex: "Bring me the book" (venha até mim) vs "Take this to your boss" (vá até lá).
"Borrow" vs "Lend" - regra geral
"Borrow" = pegar emprestado (eu tomo emprestado de alguém). "Lend" = emprestar (eu empresto para alguém) — ex: "Can I borrow your pen?" vs "Can you lend me your pen?"
