always keep the keys with you, out of sight, give keys to on coming staff upon request

medication cabinet

always keep locked, clean, dont leave unattended, check for expired medication and inform the coordinator

the pharmacy

check the medication before the deliverer leaves, make sure it was sent to the right place

medication errors

charting, failure to give medication, wrong medication

consequences of errors

counseling, reprimand, suspension of privileges until completion of class, report to board of nursing

nurse notification

call bc of medication questions, injury or illness, individual refuses medication or treatment, client goes and returns from ER

before leaving appointment or hospital

ask if there are new changes or new medication, ask for PMOF or prescription
