What are the 7 functions of the skin
regulate body temp, protection, sensation, excretion, blood reservoir, synthesis of vitamins, immunity
Functions of each 5 layers of skin —→ Top to bottom
dead cells at top, replaced every 2-4 weeks
cells begin to die as they move up w/o bloody supply
cells accumulate more keratin as moving upward
cells move upward as newer cells are produced
newly formed cells in basale layer begin to produce keratin*fiberous protien*
