Resonant Circuit
A circuit that can strongly respond or oscillate near a particular frequency.
Resonant System
A system with complex roots that can show oscillatory behavior.

A filter’s ability to pass desired frequencies while rejecting nearby unwanted frequencies.
Resonant Region
The frequency range near resonance where gain and phase change sharply.
Parallel Resonance
Resonance in a parallel RLC circuit, where impedance and output voltage are maximum.
Series Resonance
Resonance in a series RLC circuit, where impedance is minimum and current is maximum.
Voltage Magnification
The condition where voltage across an inductor or capacitor exceeds the input voltage near series resonance.
Band-Pass Filter
A filter that passes frequencies in a selected middle range.
Band-Stop Filter
A filter that blocks frequencies in a selected middle range.
Notch Filter
Another name for a band-stop filter.
Resonance Peak
The maximum in a frequency-response magnitude plot near resonance.
Energy Accumulator
A resonant system that continuously stores energy received near its resonant frequency.
