Iliac Crest
The superior border of the ilium, important for muscle attachment and palpation.
Femoral Triangle
An anatomical region in the upper thigh containing important structures such as nerves and blood vessels.
Tensor Fasciae Latae
A muscle located on the lateral aspect of the thigh that assists in hip flexion and abduction.
Rectus Femoris
A muscle of the quadriceps group, responsible for knee extension and hip flexion.
Gluteus Medius
A muscle of the hip that is primarily responsible for hip abduction and stabilization of the pelvis.
Gluteus Maximus
The largest muscle in the human body, responsible for the movement of the hip and thigh.
Greater Trochanter
A bony prominence on the femur that serves as an attachment point for muscles of the hip.
Sacrum
A large, triangular bone at the base of the spine that forms part of the pelvis.
Ischial Tuberosity
The bony prominence on the ischium, commonly known as the sitting bone.
Anterior Superior Iliac Spine (ASIS)
A prominent bony landmark on the ilium that can be palpated on the anterior aspect of the pelvis.
Pubic Symphysis
The cartilaginous joint located between the left and right pubic bones.
Inguinal Ligament
A ligament that extends from the anterior superior iliac spine to the pubic tubercle.
Lumbar Plexus
A network of nerves in the lower back that supplies the lower limbs.
Sciatic Nerve
The largest nerve in the body that branches off the lower back and innervates the legs.
Radial Ligament
A ligament that provides stability to the ribcage and connects ribs to the vertebrae.
Intercostal Nerves
Nerves that run between the ribs and control the muscles of the thorax.
Xiphoid Process
The cartilaginous extension at the inferior end of the sternum.
Spinalis
A muscle group that extends the vertebral column.
External Oblique
A muscle of the abdomen that helps in trunk rotation and lateral flexion.
Clauda Equina
A bundle of spinal nerves and nerve roots located in the lower back.
