gestational hypertension
Pregnant female with systolic 140 or Diastolic 90 or higher
-Becomes severe when Systolic > 160 or Diastolic > 110
Supine hypotensive syndrome
How to prevent
Hypotension due to compression of vena cava by baby
-Lay patient on left side
Labor delivery if umbilical cord is around neck
Slip cord gently over head & if not possible cut it
-place 2 clamps 2 inch apart & cut in between, speed up delivery cause O2 supply has been cut
Assessing newborn
1) Check RR & ventilate via bvm if needed
2) check pulse is at least 100 bpm if not ventilate via BVM w/out O2.
-Reassess pulse & RR every 30 sec
3) Check Spo2 on right wrist, if Spo2 does not improve or central cyanosis is present administer blow-by O2 at 5L/min
