OBJECT or VISIBLE LINES
thick lines used to represent the outline or visible edges of objects.
HIDDEN or INVISIBLE LINES
medium lines used to indicate the hidden intersections of planes and the other features of the object. Made of short dashes spaced equally.
DIMENSION LINES
thin lines used to show measurements of the object.
ENTENSION LINES
thin lines used to indicate the extent of measurement given by dimension line.
CENTER LINES
thin lines used to locate the centers of arcs and circles. Made of alternating short and long dashes, which start at the center of circle and arcs.
CUTTING PLANE LINES
thick line used to illustrate the direction of an imaginary cutting plane.
LEADER LINES
thin lines used to indicate dimensions of narrow/small measurements and other explanatory notes of the features of a drawing.
REFERENCE LINES
same with leader lines but of irregular curve.
LONG BREAK LINES
thin lines used to limit the length of an elongated object. Made up of long dashes and zigzag lines connected alternately.
SHORT BREAK LINES
same with long break lines made up of irregular curves.
SECTION LINES
thin lines usually inclined at 45 degrees and are used to show the cut portion of the object in section view.
CONSTRUCTION LINES
light lines used as a guide or framework of objects to be drawn.
BOARDE R LINES
extra heavy lines used to enclose a drawing
