Conflict
Occurs in interactions with incompatible goals, scarce resources, or opposing viewpoints.
Six Elements of Conflict

Conflict that occurs within an individual.

Comprises four stages: Frustration, Conceptualization, Behavior, and Outcome.
Accommodating Style
A submissive style where one complies without personal input.
Avoiding Style
A passive style that pretends conflict does not exist.
Competing Style
A power approach defending one’s position at the expense of the other.
Compromising Style
Involves giving up some wants, not a win-win situation.
Collaborating Style
Focuses on mutual beneficial solutions where both parties are satisfied.
STLC Conflict Model
A four-step process for managing communication during conflict: Stop, Think, Listen, Communicate.
Team Evolution Stages
Five stages: Forming, Storming, Norming, Performing, Adjourning.
Task Cohesion
Commitment of group members to the purpose and activities of the group.
Social Cohesion
Attraction and liking among group members.
Qualities of Positive Group Climate
Includes participation, confirming messages, constructive feedback, equity, motivation, and symbolic convergence.
Diversity in Teams
Enhances decision-making and creativity leading to higher innovation.
Effective Communication
Remains key in managing conflict and navigating disagreements.
