Level of Consciousness
Patient’s responsiveness to stimuli indicating brain function.

Abnormal brain function caused by various reasons.

The conventional method of assessing a patient's level of consciousness.
AVPU scale
A scale used to assess consciousness in human patients, not commonly used currently but applicable.
General Condition
Revealed through visual examination of the patient.
Exterior Surfaces Examination
Assessment of coat condition, skin, lymph nodes, and mammary glands.
Body Openings
Examination of various openings in the body during a physical exam.
Pupillary Light Reflex
A test to assess neurological function through eye response.
Cardiovascular System Examination
Assessment of heart rate, rhythm, and presence of murmurs.
Arrhythmias
Abnormal heart rhythms detected during cardiovascular examination.
Palpation of Pulse
Feeling the pulse and comparing it with heart rate.
MM and CRT
Assessment of mucous membranes and capillary refill time during cardiovascular examination.
Respiratory Rate
Measurement of breaths per minute during respiratory system examination.
Respiratory Character
Evaluation of effort, inhalation/exhalation length, and regularity of breathing.
Auscultation of Lungs
Listening to lung sounds in each thoracic quadrant.
Abdominal Palpation
Physical examination of the abdomen to assess softness and pain.
Normal Abdomen
Should be soft to touch and not painful during examination.
Small Animals Examination
Difficulty in feeling organs except for bladder and kidneys (in cats).
Large Animals Examination
Use of auscultation to detect normal gut sounds (borborygmus).
