Water embedded in food from water-rich nations that is traded to compensate for local water scarcity

Liquid water taken from surface water bodies of groundwater stocks (only part of it is evapotranspired)

Liquid water in rivers, lakes, reservoirs, and groundwater aquifers that is potentially available to society
Water Footprint
The total volume of fresh water used to produce the goods and services consumed by the individual or community or produced by the business
Green Water
Water in soil available to plants and soil microorganisms that can exert the suction required for extraction

Liquid water that is evapotranspired (it cannot be reused downstream). We need to wait for that water to turn into precipitation.
