Meso Compounds
(see image) A molecule that has chiral carbons, but the whole molecule is NOT chiral because both halves cancel each other out. EX: Imagine folding a butterfly down the middle. If the left wing and right wing match perfectly, the butterfly is symmetrical.

A Meso compound is its own mirror image
so it cannot have an enantiomer.
The top and bottom half of a meso compound
are the same and cancel each other out
A meso compound will have more than 2
chiral carbons
