The earliest period of human prehistory. Began 2.6 - 3.3 million years ago & ended in 10,000 BCE

NEolithic Age

The final division of the stone age from 10,000 BCE to between 4,500 & 2,000 BCE depending on the region , Marked a massive shift to argiculture rather than the nomadic hunting style.

Technology

The practical application of scientific & conceptional knowledge to create tools, solve problems, & achieve human Goals

Australopithecus

Means ‘ Southern Ape,’ an extinct group of early humans ancestors that lived in Africa from 4.4 million to 1.4 million years ago. Walked on 2 legs but had small brians.

Homo Erectus

1.9 million to 16,000 years ago . Noted as the first human ancestor to have human like body proportions, walk upright, and migrate out of africa

MOdern people found all over the world

Nomad

A person that has no fixed home and moves from place to plaxe, usually in search of food, fresh land, and place for work

HUnter-Gatherer

Individuals who lived by forging for plant to hunting animals. Before the advent or argiculture over 10,000 years ago

NEolithic Revolution

The shift when human groups stopped moving to hunt and gather. Started planting crops, keeping animals, and living in villages. Started 12,000 years ago.

Slash and burn farming-

Agricultural practice where forests or brush are cut down and burned to clear land for planting

Domestication

The multi-generationol purpose of adopting wild plants and animals through selective breeding so they depend on humans for survival, food, & care

Civilization -

A complete and advances stage of human society. Features high levels of sultures, science, industry, and government

Specialization

The process of focussing on a narrow skill, task, or area of study to build deep expertise and increase overall efficiency

Artisan

A skilled worker who makes items by hand

Institution

An established organization, a long-Standing custom, or set of rules shaing social behavior.

Scribe

A person who rites or copies documents by hand

Cuneiform

One of the oldest writing systems created in ancient mesopotamia - 3200 BCE. MEans ‘ wedge Shaped,’ because people used a real wedge to mark on the clay

Bronze age

Time period when humans used bronze as the main metal for tools and weapons. In between the stone ages and the iron age.

The direct trade of goods or services for other goods or service withought using money

Ziggurat

A massive tiered, stepped pyramid structure built in ancient mesopotamia.
