What is Big Data?
Data whose scale, distribution, diversity, and/or timeliness require the use of new technical architectures and analytics to enable insights that unlock new sources of business value
What are the 4 V's of Big Data?
Volume, Velocity, Variety, and (Veracity)
What is an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW)?
A central repository of all relevant data that is non-dimensional and doesn't change over time.
What are Data Marts?
Application-oriented data, ETL-ed from Enterprise Data Warehouses.
What is Classification in Informatics?
The systematic representation of terms and concepts and the relationship between them.
What is Nomenclature (vocabulary) in Informatics?
An agreed system of assigned names.
What are quantitative anonymisation techniques?
Removing or aggregating variables, reducing precision, or addressing connections between variables.
What are qualitative anonymisation techniques?
Using pseudonyms or replacement terms.
What are Learning Health Systems (LHS)?
Healthcare systems in which knowledge generation processes are embedded in daily practice to produce continual improvement in care.
A Learning Health System must capture data from practice, turn it into knowledge and apply it back into practice. What technical building blocks will we need?
