What is a Narrative Text?
A narrative tells a story about real or fictional events, usually in chronological order, and includes characters, setting, plot, and a conflict/resolution.
What is the purpose of a Persuasive Text?
To influence beliefs or actions, using a clear stance, strong arguments, evidence, and emotional or logical appeals.
What is the purpose of a Descriptive Text?
To vividly describe a subject (person, place, object, or event) using sensory details to help the reader visualize and experience it.
What are the two types of Definition Text?
Formal definition and Extended definition.
What is the purpose of a Compare and Contrast Text?
To discuss similarities and differences between two or more subjects and analyze relationships.
What is the purpose of Classification Text?
To group items or ideas into categories based on shared characteristics and show relationships.
What is the purpose of Exemplification Text?
To illustrate or explain a general idea by using specific examples.
What is a pronoun, and name at least three types?
A pronoun is a word used in place of a noun to avoid repetition; types include Personal, Possessive, Reflexive, Demonstrative, Relative, and Indefinite.
What is the rule of Subject-Verb Agreement (SVA)?
The verb must agree with the subject in number (singular or plural).
What are transitional words and why are they used?
Transitional words connect ideas and ensure a smooth flow in writing; categories include Addition, Contrast, Cause and Effect, Sequence, Example, and Conclusion.
